What is VitrA Hygiene?
VitrA Hygiene is a special glaze that reduces the growth of harmful bacteria on ceramic surfaces by 99.9%. During production it is applied over the entire inner and outer surface of the ceramic and fired at high temperature, so it becomes a permanent part of the product rather than a coating added afterwards. When bacteria land on the surface and try to multiply into a colony, the technology disrupts their cell structure and renders them harmless. The result is a high level of hygiene that lasts for the whole life of the product, even under the most intensive use.
How it works
How does VitrA Hygiene work?
In everyday use, many different bacteria come into contact with ceramic surfaces. The ion-rich VitrA Hygiene glaze stops the bacteria that reach the surface from multiplying, so the bathroom stays hygienic day after day. This technology:
- fully covers the inner and outer surfaces of the ceramic;
- fuses with the ceramic when fired at high temperature;
- creates permanent hygienic protection on the surface;
- is not a coating or an after-treatment;
- is designed to stay effective for the whole life of the product.
Because the glaze is one with the ceramic, it does not wear off in use and does not lose its effect over time.
