Mixed-color plumbing fixtures – how to match the interior
In modern bathroom design, the color of plumbing fixtures is already as important an element as tiles, furniture, or lighting. If a few years ago the choice was limited mainly to chrome and white plumbing fixtures, today matte black, brushed gold, brushed nickel, bronze, and other tones are actively used in the interior. A properly selected combination of colors gives the space a more individual, modern, and sophisticated look.
Instead of a monotonous metal, a combination of two different colors is increasingly used in bathrooms. This approach creates visual accents in the interior and gives it a more luxurious and personalized character. The most popular combinations are: chrome and matte black, chrome and brushed gold, matte black and brushed bronze, as well as brushed nickel and warm gold.
When choosing a color, it is useful to consider the 60-30-10 principle. Approximately 60% of the interior should belong to the main color, 30% to the additional color, and 10% to accent details. For example, if the faucet and shower system are chrome, the towel rack and the built-in tank button can be matte black, and the mirror frame can be brushed gold.
The type of tile also plays an important role. Light marble-effect tiles look especially good in a combination of chrome and brushed gold, concrete-effect tiles in matte black and chrome, wood-textured tiles in warm bronze and nickel tones, and dark stone-effect tiles in matte black and brushed gold.
For visual balance, it is preferable to choose the faucet, shower system, built-in tank button, and main accessories in the same color. For example, if the faucet is black, it is better to also have a towel rack, toilet paper holder, and other metal details in black — this way the interior will look more complete and harmonious.
A common mistake is to use three or more metallic colors in equal amounts, as well as randomly mixing warm and cold tones. In small bathrooms, excessive contrasts visually overload the space, so in such cases, two colors are quite enough.
One of the main trends of recent years is the combination of matte black and brushed gold. Also relevant is the minimalist combination of chrome and black and the elegant combination of brushed nickel and warm bronze.
Mixed-color plumbing gives the bathroom a unique character, however, for a successful result, it is necessary to control the number of colors and maintain the overall style. With the correct use of one main metallic color, one additional tone, and small accents, you can create a modern, elegant, and timeless interior that will remain relevant for years to come.
